A very small neighborhood but full of character is Cabbagetown. It’s located just east of Oakland Cemetery, with the borders being Boulevard to the west, Dekalb Ave to the north, Pearl St SE to the east, and Memorial Dr to the south. Here one can find small cottage homes on very narrow streets. Homes in the Cabbagetown real estate market are generally small and older but fairly affordable. Inventory has been very low in this area…residents don’t want to leave their charming neighborhood! A few highlights of this neighborhood include the eclectic art showcased at the Krog Street Tunnel, which connects Cabbagetown to Inman Park. Another dominant landmark which can’t be missed is the historic Fulton Cotton Mill, which in it’s hayday had employed up to 2,600 people. Now, the building has been converted into highly desirable and unique lofts known as “The Stacks.” Cabbagetown isn’t complete without a festival. Chomp and Stomp, a blue grass and chili festival complete with a 5K run, is featured every November and draws a huge crowd of over 16,000 people packed into the small community.
