Avondale Estates

If you travel east of Decatur along East College Avenue, you will run into the quaint community of Avondale Estates.  The City was named after Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England, birthplace of Shakespeare.  The downtown area and many homes in the Avondale Estates real estate market were built to reflect the tudor-style architecture of that region.  The community really feels similar to Decatur or the Virginia-Highland neighborhood, with a mixture of home styles and a friendly community vibe.  It’s also home to the birthplace of the first ever Waffle House.  Numerous community events happen all year round, including a fall arts festival known as AutumnFest and then there is the Avondale Estates farmers market held every Sunday from 10AM-2PM.
