Steps To Begin Your House Search
Ready to start searching for homes in Atlanta? Listed below are the general steps taken to search and buy your future home.
Step 1: Speak with a lender to get pre-approved – Do this first so that once we start talking about specifics about your house hunt, we will be able to narrow your search. I have several great local lenders if you need a recommendation (provided in the right-hand column). Or just ask me!
Step 2: Schedule an appointment – Call, text, or email me (whatever you prefer) so that we can sit down and talk about the buying process from start to finish (if you are unfamiliar) and discuss what you want in your home search. I have a buyer’s presentation that I can share with you but I also realize that meeting face-to-face can be difficult (we have busy lives!). I am also always happy to chat on the phone.
Step 3: Set-up a customized home search alert – Once I know what you are looking for, I will set you up on an automated home search alert that comes directly from the MLS. While I realize there are tons of search tools out there (Zillow, Redfin, etc) keep in mind that sometimes these listings are not up to date. Many homes may appear “for sale” but are in fact “under contract.” I also check out homes on my own time and if I think they are a good match, I will absolutely let you know.
Step 4: View homes – Whenever you see a home (or homes) that you are interested in viewing, let me know and we will schedule a time to meet at the home to view it together. Not available to view a home in person? I have handled several out-of-town clients and can either do a live video chat or else send you a video tour of the home that I personally take.
Step 5: Make an offer – Once you’ve identified a home you like and want to make an offer on, I’ll help guide you through the entire process from the initial offer, negotiations, inspection, and all the way until the day you get your keys.
